Invest in Our Future…
With your help, we can transform the former Hickory Daily Record building into the new home of Hickory Ballet & Performing Arts. This move will not only inspire and empower our students but help us to reach more children and youth in Catawba County.

We Are…
HBPA. A 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to training children and youth in Catawba County and beyond in Classical Ballet and the Performing Arts. While teaching strong technique and artistry in a nurturing environment, HBPA creates a diverse company for both pre-professional and recreational students.
Each semester, scholarships are provided to special populations and dancers in need through a blind application process. HBPA makes arts education accessible to the children and youth in
our community by providing ample opportunities to train with a well-rounded schedule of weekly classes and perform, as well as attend local performances. Some opportunities include:
- Youth Ballet Company and Youth Performing Arts Company
- Guest Teachers and Master Classes every semester
- Annual production of The Nutcracker
- Annual spring musical production
- Collaborations with Western Piedmont Symphony and Hickory
Museum of Art - Educational Outreach
- National Honor Society for Dance Arts
Our Passion
At HBPA, we love watching our students grow! Telling someone’s story through the performing arts builds empathy while also helping our students become more self aware. Honing and mastering a craft has become a lost skill in today’s fast paced society. Here, we celebrate when a
student perseveres and reaps the rewards of their dedication and discipline!
Training in the performing arts develops creative and flexible thinkers while maximizing their ability to communicate with audiences of any size.Performing is a fun, exciting way to build friendships and lifelong skills.
Our Joy
At HBPA, we entertain audiences of all ages through our free outreach programs!
- Invited performances for the Boys and Girls Club of Hickory
- Sensory Friendly Nutcracker, reaching over 100 guests annually
- Books To Ballet and Books to Broadway, reaching a combined audience of over 450 children and adults annually
It is the policy and commitment of Hickory Ballet and Performing Arts that it does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, age, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, military status, physical and mental disability, or marital status, in any of its activities or operations.
