Student Dress Code

It is important that students follow the dress code for class. It is part of the discipline and structure of classical training. Following the dress code gives the student a sense of responsibility, and helps to shift gears mentally, to the task at hand. Students not in dress code will not be allowed to participate in class. 

Please note: Shoes must be sewn completely. Tights should be in good repair and free of excessive runs or holes. 

Ladies:

Dance With Me: Any comfortable exercise clothing that will allow for movement. Barefoot or ballet shoes.

Pre-Ballet: Pink leotard, pink tights and pink leather or canvas ballet flat shoes. Pink leotards with attached skirts are acceptable, but not preferred. We provide tutus in class. Hair must be pulled back, off of the face in a ponytail or bun. No jewelry, and only small hair accessories are allowed.

Ballet 1: Turquoise leotard, pink tights and pink leather or canvas ballet flat shoes. Hair must be off the face in a ponytail or bun. No jewelry and only small hair accessories are allowed. Ballet 2: Turquoise leotard, pink tights and pink leather or canvas ballet flat shoes. Hair must be in a secure bun with hairpins and hairnet. No jewelry and only small hair accessories are allowed. 

Ballet 3: Turquoise leotard, pink alignment belt, pink tights and pink leather or canvas ballet flat shoes. Hair must be in a secure bun with hairpins and hairnet. No jewelry and only small hair accessories are allowed. 

Freshmen/Sophomore Ballet: Turquoise leotard, pink tights and pink leather or canvas ballet flat shoes. Hair must be in a secure bun with hairpins and hairnet. No jewelry and only small hair accessories are allowed. 

PBT/Ballet 4-6: Black leotard, pink tights and pink leather or canvas ballet flat shoes. Alignment belt optional. Hair must be in a secure bun with hairpins and hairnet. No jewelry and only small hair accessories are allowed. 

Pointe: Black leotard, pink tights and teacher approved pointe shoes. Black wrap skirt, optional. Hair must be in a secure bun with hairpins and hairnet. No jewelry and only small hair accessories are allowed. 

Friday Ballet Class 4/5/6 and Rehearsal: Any solid color leotard, pink tights and any skirt. 

Jazz 3: Turquoise leotard, tan (or pink) tights, bike shorts or jazz pants, optional. No large or bulky tops. Tan jazz shoes. Hair must be off the face in a ponytail or bun. 

Freshman/Sophomore Jazz: Aqua leotard, tan (or pink) tights, black bike shorts, black jazz pants, or leggings optional. No large or bulky tops. Tan jazz shoes. Hair must be off the face in a ponytail or bun.

Jazz 4-5: Black leotard, tan (or pink) tights, bike shorts or jazz pants, optional. No large or bulky tops. Tan jazz shoes. Hair must be off the face in a ponytail or bun. 

Turns and Leaps: Black leotard, black or aqua crop top, or HBPA t-shirt, tan (or pink) tights, black bike shorts, black jazz pants, or leggings optional. No large or bulky tops. Tan jazz shoes. Hair must be off the face in a ponytail or bun.

Tap 1-3: Turquoise leotard, tan (or pink) tights, bike shorts or jazz pants, optional. No large or bulky tops. Black tap shoes. 

Freshman Tap: Aqua leotard, tan (or pink) tights, black bike shorts, black jazz pants, or leggings optional. No large or bulky tops. Black tap shoes. Hair must be off the face in a ponytail or bun.

Tap 4: Black leotard, tan (or pink) tights, bike shorts or jazz pants, optional. No large or bulky tops. Black tap shoes. 

Musical Theatre 1-3: Turquoise leotard, tan (or pink) tights, black bike shorts or leggings optional. No large or bulky tops. Tan jazz shoes. Hair must be off the face in a ponytail or bun. 

Freshman/Sophomore Musical Theatre: Aqua leotard, or HBPA logo or show shirt, tan (or pink) tights optional, black bike shorts, black jazz pants, or leggings. No large or bulky tops. Tan jazz shoes. Hair must be off the face in a ponytail or bun.

Musical Theatre 4-5: Black leotard, black or aqua crop top, or HBPA t-shirt, tan (or pink) tights, black bike shorts, black jazz pants, or leggings optional. No large or bulky tops. Tan jazz shoes. Hair must be off the face in a ponytail or bun.

Musical Theatre Rehearsal: HBPA logo or show shirt, black bike short, black jazz pants, or leggings. Show shoes. No large or bulky tops. Hair must be off the face in a ponytail or bun.

Freshman/Sophomore Lyrical: Aqua leotard, tan (or pink) tights, black bike shorts, black jazz pants, or leggings optional. No large or bulky tops. Bare feet or ballet shoes. Hair must be off the face in a ponytail or bun.

Contemporary/Lyrical 4: Black leotard, tan (or pink) tights, black bike shorts, black jazz pants, or leggings optional. No large or bulky tops. Bare feet or ballet shoes. Hair must be off the face in a ponytail or bun.

Acro 1-2: Turquoise leotard, black bike shorts. Bare feet. Footless tights optional. Hair must be pulled back, off of the face in a ponytail or bun. No jewelry, and only small hair accessories are allowed. 

Acro 3: Turquoise or Black leotard or aqua crop top, black bike shorts or leggings. Bare feet. Footless tights optional. Hair must be pulled back, off of the face in a ponytail or bun. No jewelry, and only small hair accessories are allowed. 

Gentlemen:

All Ballet classes: White fitted tee shirt tucked in, black long tights or long black bike shorts, dance belt, black or white leather or canvas ballet flat shoes. White or black socks, suspenders, optional.

Dance: Aqua tee shirt (logo wear or plain), tucked in, long black bike shorts or black jazz pants, black socks, black jazz shoes.

Tap: Aqua tee shirt (logo wear or plain), long black bike shorts or black jazz pants, black socks, black tap shoes. 

Permitted Warmups:

Ballet: Legwarmers and tight-fitting dance sweaters

Musical Theatre:  Logo wear sweatshirts, long-sleeve shirts, and black leggings

Dance: Legwarmers, black leggings, tight-fitting thermal shirts, or sweaters

Adult Students:

Any comfortable exercise clothing that will allow for movement. Ballet, tap or jazz shoes, as appropriate for class. Hair pulled off of the face.
